Extra Credit Blog

Hello and welcome back!

Love stories, the thought of two people and their story beginning on the day they first met can be romantic and even sweet, but for others, is it really love? Michael Moore shows a different kind of affection in his film, Capitalism: A Love Story. In his film, he shows the good and the bad of the way things were handled and done in what we know of as capitalism here in the United States of America.

When watching this film, you see many emotions on the ones who are affected and those that aren’t. Anger and frustration to the point of almost depressed because of the history with some of the things lost in this exchange that caused many obstacles and feeling like no one will listen or help. Greed, from how the banks are portrayed, and how the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. Losing a home is not in anyone’s plan nor should it. In Maslow's hierarchy of needs, shelter is our number one need physiologically before we can move forward to safety.

Safety also means a form of maintaining food, water, shelter, which is, financial stability. In the film, we see many people are getting laid off and put off of work which then hinders their income to maintain a roof over their heads and causing stress of the possibility of losing their home.

This can be very stressful and can put a lot on someone's shoulders. This film shows you the good, the bad, and the ugly of what goes on behind all these decisions and changes that affect many. Families, farmers, and labor workers are not safe from these types of things that happen.

The mixed feelings that the film maker has you feeling can be everywhere, from happy, to upset, to sad. This was a well put persuasive video, and very real when some don't think about these things. What were your thoughts of this video?

Thank you for coming back, and until next time, bye!
